About

We fully understand that challenging behaviours are often a source of frustration, and emotional distress for both the child and their parents. Our ultimate focus is to develop proactive strategies that promote and sustain positive behaviours and reduce challenging behaviours. We design programmes to address behaviours including:

  • Aggression, such as hitting, kicking or biting.
  • Self injurious behaviours including head-banging, scratching, or biting.
  • Damaging property, including furniture or personal belongings.
  • Non-compliance with parental or teacher requests or instructions.
  • Escape or wandering, potentially putting themselves at risk.
  • Social avoidance and limited social interactions.
  • Other challenges include attention-seeking disruptive behaviours, difficulties with personal hygiene and communication challenges.

Asa Saves Autism Foundation (ASAF) is a non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that sprung up to mitigate all the experienced challenges surrounding children and young adults on the autism spectrum. Over the years, we have witnessed the challenges families face in getting children on the autism spectrum into mainstream schools and overall general improvements to their quality of life. We want each individual on the autism spectrum and related disorders as well as their families to have access to needed resources and services that positively impact their quality of life.

Beyond the awareness we create, we want to keep expanding the scope of acceptance and change in perspective of the society in relation to autistic individuals. We see inclusion as a process and it is based on individual needs and lived experiences. It is about what each needs and Asa Saves Autism Foundation cares to deliver these needs. We believe how one thinks about the learner is how one treats/interacts with him/her. We are changing societal perspectives to be more autism-friendly; we are purely dedicated to changing attitudes, transforming lives and improving quality of lives for autistic people.
